This weekend, Zitko Group had the privilege of attending the march at London Pride with The Rainbow+ Team, helping to celebrate the movement’s landmark 50th anniversary.
Pride is an event that brings awareness and acceptance towards the LGBTQ+ community and is celebrated across the world. It serves as a reminder of the huge achievements the movement has made in the fight towards equality and the progress that is still to be made. Zitko was one of many companies from the fire and security industry attending the march, all gathering together to demonstrate the sector’s commitment to improving its diversity.
The event also held further significance for Zitko because it was the ideal vibrant and welcoming platform for us to kick off July, our month dedicated to EDI. While we were honoured to participate in London Pride’s 50th anniversary and reflect on how far things have come in building a more loving and tolerant society, it was a poignant signifier of what more there is to do until each of us can feel completely safe and accepted. Zitko is dedicated to being part of this progression, starting by ensuring we are an equal, diverse and inclusive company that leads by example for the rest of the industry.
Zitko’s attendance at the event was organised by Hannah Morris, the HR Manager, who is leading our efforts in committing July to EDI. Once she’d washed off most the glitter and soothed the blisters on her feet, she had this to say about the parade: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to walk with my colleagues in London Pride 2022. The day was incredible. The people, the atmosphere and the importance of the message are something I will never forget. What a way to start my month-long deep dive into the world of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.”
